I was surprised to hear that, not only is Shannon Elizabeth being sponsored by Mansion Poker (for an as-yet-undisclosed-but-I’m-sure-hefty amount), she also has had several respectable finishes in the WSOP. She finished in the money, twice. I mean, even if you enter into every tournament, the odds of that happening by pure luck are pretty slim, wouldn’t you say. I wonder what kind of ‘table presence’ she’s cultivating?
Anyway, here’s the latest on her deal with Mansion Poker, via 4flush.com :
It was announced that the American Pie beauty turned poker player will fly the banner of Mansion Poker when she competes for the guaranteed $1,000,000 first place prize at this year’s 2008 Aussie Millions Main Event. Day 1 Flight 2 will be the debut down under for Elizabeth sporting her new Mansion Poker gear and ready to battle it out for five days with some of the very best poker has to offer.
I’d like to see a comparison between how many times the average male player needs to finish in the money in order to get sponsorship, vs. the average female. Not that it isn’t worth it, for the variety if nothing else.
